Moderate

Discover Pompeii and Sorrento in just one day from Naples. Enjoy a guided tour of the Pompeii ruins with skip-the-line entrance ticket, a local lunch along the Sorrento Coast and free time in Sorrento with stunning views over the Gulf of Naples and Capri.

See the best of both Pompeii and Sorrento in a single day with this full-day tour from Naples, combining archaeology, local flavors and panoramic coastal views.

Your experience begins in Naples, where you will meet your local staff and travel by shared vehicle towards Pompeii. On arrival, meet your professional licensed guide and enter the archaeological site using your skip-the-line entrance ticket, avoiding long queues at the ticket office.

Enjoy an approximately 2-hour guided tour of Pompeii, once a thriving Roman city before the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD. As you walk through the ancient streets, your guide will show you some of the most representative areas of the site (depending on daily conditions and accessibility) and explain how daily life took place here almost 2,000 years ago. You will learn how the eruption covered the city with ash and pumice, preserving houses, streets and many objects in extraordinary detail and allowing the site to be “brought back to life” through excavations.

After the visit to Pompeii, you will head towards the Sorrento Coast. As you travel, enjoy an enchanting panorama over the Bay of Naples and the coastline. You will stop at a traditional restaurant to enjoy a local lunch, a perfect opportunity to taste regional dishes before continuing to Sorrento.

Following lunch, the tour continues along the renowned Sorrento Coast road until you reach Sorrento itself. Once there, you will have free time to explore this charming town at your own pace. Stroll through the historic center, wander along narrow alleys lined with shops and small workshops, stop for a coffee or a pastry in one of the local cafés, and enjoy the relaxed atmosphere.

Do not miss one of Sorrento’s most scenic spots, the Villa Comunale, a public terrace from which you can admire breathtaking views over the Gulf of Naples, Punta Campanella and the island of Capri in the distance – the perfect “glimpse of Capri” that completes your day.

At the agreed time, you will meet your staff again and return to Naples, bringing back memories of a day that perfectly combines history, landscape and local culture.

Important information / Good to know

    Pompeii tickets – ID requirement

It is mandatory for all participants to carry a valid photo ID on the day of the tour. The personal details provided at the time of booking (e.g. first and last name) must exactly match those on the ID, as Pompeii tickets are nominative and non-transferable.

Local staff at the archaeological site are entitled to check IDs at the entrance. In case of discrepancies, spelling errors or missing information, they may refuse entry to one or more participants at their sole discretion.

Discover Italy cannot be held responsible for any refusal of entry due to incorrect or incomplete data provided by the participants, and no refund will be due in such cases.

    Weather, clothing and itinerary

The tour runs in all weather conditions; we recommend wearing comfortable walking shoes and bringing a light jacket and an umbrella. Pompeii and Sorrento both involve walking on uneven surfaces and cobbled streets, so suitable footwear is essential. Any waiting times during stops (for explanations, security checks, traffic or photo opportunities) may occur and are not dependent on the organization.

The guide and local staff reserve the right to modify or adjust the itinerary (including the order of visits, duration of stops, and choice of restaurant) if necessary for operational or safety reasons (for example due to traffic, road closures, weather conditions or unexpected events).

Contact details and meet & greet

To ensure smooth meet & greet operations, we strongly recommend that at least one participant provides a mobile phone number that is active and reachable in Italy (ideally the same number entered at the time of booking).

We also highly recommend downloading and using the WhatsApp messaging app, which allows our ground staff and local provider to contact you quickly in case of any changes or difficulties in locating each other at the meeting point.

Discover Italy cannot be held responsible if participants are unable to meet our staff at the agreed meeting point due to being unreachable or not answering calls/messages.
