Based on the option you choose, your service may include:

  • Ground transportation only (for example between airports and Mestre or Piazzale Roma/Tronchetto), or
  • Combined transfer with private vehicle + private motorboat to reach your hotel in Venice’s historic center.

Upon arrival at the airport, your driver or assistant will be waiting for you after the customs area, just outside the arrivals gate, holding a sign with your name. For train arrivals at Mestre station, you will meet your driver at the head of the train or at an agreed meeting point in the station. For cruise or ferry arrivals, the pick-up will be at the cruise terminal or the closest accessible meeting point. For departures or hotel pick-ups, your driver or boat captain will meet you in the lobby or at the nearest available dock, according to the option booked.

      • Extra waiting time beyond the complimentary limits (to be paid on the spot, according to local rates)
      • Second stop or additional drop-off/pick-up (optional, to be paid on the spot if available)
      • Hostess/steward service (unless explicitly specified in your option)
      • Porterage service for luggage (unless explicitly included)
      • Lunch, drinks and personal expenses
      • Any extra services not expressly specified in the “What’s Included” section

        Delays or diverted arrivals

        In case of flight or train delays or if your arrival is diverted to a different airport or station, the customer must inform Discover Italy as soon as possible in order to check the possibility to wait or reschedule the service without extra costs.

        If Discover Italy is not available to wait or reschedule due to operational reasons and/or no timely communication is received, the service may be considered a no-show, and no refund will be due.


        General information

        According to Italian law, it is strictly forbidden to place luggage inside the passenger compartment of the vehicle. In case of extra or oversized baggage that does not fit in the trunk or on board the selected boat, the driver or captain may refuse the service for safety reasons and no refund will be due.

        Any additional costs incurred due to extra baggage (for example upgrading to a larger vehicle or boat, arranging a second unit or storage) will be borne by the passengers and must be paid on the spot.

        In the event of malfunction, technical failure or damage, the assigned vehicle or boat may be replaced with another of the same or higher category/quality level.


        Important – Transfer options and routes

        Many of our Venice transfer services offer several route and service options, such as:

        • Ground transfer only (Airport/Port ↔ Mestre or Piazzale Roma/Tronchetto)
        • Combined ground + private boat transfer to/from hotels in Venice historic center
        • Transfers to/from Treviso Airport and other nearby areas

        Each option has a different route and a different fare. Please carefully check the available options and the notes in the product description before completing your booking, to make sure you select and pay for the correct route and service type(ground only or ground + boat) for your journey.


        Contact details and meet & greet

        To ensure smooth meet & greet operations, we strongly recommend that at least one passenger provides a mobile phone number that is active and reachable in Italy (ideally the same number entered at the time of booking).

        We also highly recommend downloading and using the WhatsApp messaging app, which allows our ground staff, drivers and boat captains to contact you quickly in case of any changes, delays or difficulties in locating each other.

        Discover Italy cannot be held responsible if passengers are unable to meet our staff or driver/boat captain at the agreed meeting point due to being unreachable or not answering calls/messages.


        Frequently Asked Questions (Transfer FAQ standard)

        – Is this a round-trip transfer?
        No. Each booking is for a one-way transfer only on the date you select.

        – If it’s a one-way transfer, why am I asked to provide both arrival and departure details?
        Our system is used for different types of transfers (arrivals and departures), and we are not able to predict which option you will choose. For this reason, the form may ask for more details than strictly necessary.

        Feel free to provide only the information that is relevant for your transfer (for example, your arrival flight number for airport pick-ups). Where a field is not applicable, you can simply enter “N/A”.

        – If I need a round-trip transfer, what should I do?
        You can easily book a round-trip by making two separate bookings, one for each travel date (outbound and return).

        – What time will I be picked up from my hotel?
        The time you select during the booking process will be considered as your requested pick-up time.

        If you are not sure which time to choose (for example in relation to your flight or train departure), you can contact us before booking and we will be happy to assist you in choosing the most suitable pick-up time.

        – I selected a pick-up time later than my flight/train arrival time. Is that OK?
        No. Our ground staff monitors your scheduled arrival time in real time and your driver or boat captain will meet you based on the original arrival time of your flight or train.

        Remember that you already have complimentary waiting time included in the price:

        • up to 60 minutes for airport arrivals
        • up to 15 minutes for train station arrivals

        This is usually more than enough in Italy for passport control and luggage collection, so please always select the time slot closest to your actual scheduled arrival time, not later.
